Peppermint Ice Cream

Peppermint Ice Cream

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • 2-3 scoops of vanilla colostrum
  • Crushed candy cane shavings

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Chill the Ice Cream Maker Bowl: Make sure the freezer bowl of your Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker has been in the freezer for at least 24 hours before starting.
  2. Prepare the Ice Cream Mixture: In the Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker bowl, combine 1 cup whole milk and 2 cups heavy cream. Add 1 tsp peppermint extract and stir until the mixture is well combined. Add 2-3 scoops of vanilla colostrum, stirring thoroughly until the colostrum is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour before churning. This step helps improve the texture of the ice cream.
  4. Churn the Ice Cream: Once the mixture is chilled. Turn on the machine, and pour the chilled mixture into the frozen bowl. Let it churn for about 20-25 minutes, or until it thickens to a soft-serve consistency.
  5. Add Candy Cane Shavings: During the last 5 minutes of churning, slowly add in crushed candy cane shavings. Let the machine finish churning until the candy canes are evenly mixed into the ice cream.
  6. Freeze the Ice Cream: Once churning is complete, transfer the soft ice cream into an airtight container. Use a spatula to press it down and ensure it's packed tightly. Cover and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until the ice cream firms up to your desired consistency.
